e-Transport MMP, under the aegis of Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH), is being implemented across the country by the Technical Partner, NIC.
- The project realizes the Digital India Vision, by providing on-the-go transport-related services to citizens, Government, as well as businesses.
- The centralised, web-enabled applications, VAHAN 4 and SARATHI 4, are in an advanced stage of implementation, and computerisation has been completed in over 85% of the Country’s Road transport offices (RTOs).
- Key Components:
- A combination of G2G, G2B and G2C services benefitting citizens, transporters, vehicle dealers, manufacturers, police & security agencies, banks, insurance companies, various Government Departments at the state and central levels.
- Vahan (for vehicle registration) and Sarathi (for driving licenses), are the mainstays of the Project. Around 25 crore + vehicle records and 15 crore+ license records are available in its repository.
- The project is integrated with other eGov initiatives/ services such as UMANG, Digilocker, CSC, e-District, e-Mitra, Aadhaar, eSign, etc.
- The project has not only streamlined and made the work easy for the state transport departments, but has also provided rich dividends to the citizens in terms of being able to complete processes online, fully or partially, without having to visit the RTOs. People are booking appointments, paying fees and taxes, choosing fancy numbers – all online.
- It is a fast-changing, fast-moving drive crossing one milestone after the other in a new digital era.
