Get on-Get Off (GO-GO) Bus service

The Hon’ble Union Minister of Home Affairs and Minister of Cooperation, Shri Amit Shah flagged off four ‘GoGo AC Electric Tourist Buses’ on October 15, 2021 from the iconic Flag Point to provide a secure, comfortable and affordable mode of transport to tourists for visiting various tourist spots in and around Port Blair.The Lt Governor, A&N Islands, Admiral DK Joshi, PVSM, AVSM, YSM, NM, VSM (Retd), Union Home Secretary,Ministry of Home Affairs, Shri Ajay Kumar Bhalla, Chief Secretary, A&N Administration, Shri Jitendra Narain, other officers accompanying the Hon’ble Minister and senior officers of the A&N Administration were present on the occasion.

The Go-Go bus service is an initiative of the Transport Department of the A&N Administration to provide economical and environment friendly public transport to tourists for visiting popular historical and pristine spots in and around Port Blair. By providing safe, air-conditioned and environment-friendly public transport which is economical and can be booked online exclusively for visiting popular tourist attractions in and around Port Blair, the project would lead to an increased flow of tourists to the said spots due to better connectivity which in turn will provide more indirect employment at such spots for local tourist guides, street food venders etc.

It has been the endeavor of the A & N Administration to deliver better quality of services to citizens at their doorstep and continuously improve it for enhancing the quality of life. In order to provide quick service in a transparent manner, the Transport Department made the services online by implementing the national software Vahan 4.0 on August 15, 2020. The total number of vehicles registered in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is 1,53,729.
