Improvement of public transport in the UT has always been the main focus area of the Administration for which many proactive steps have been taken. The Department is operating Express Bus Services to provide connectivity between South Andaman and N & M Andaman. Advance reservation of ticket for the Express buses has always been a challenge due to poor network connectivity in the Islands. For facilitating the commuters, centralized software was being used by hosting it in the State Data Centre and connecting all STS Units through leased lines, but this facility had many drawbacks resulting in inconvenience to the commuter.
Thereafter, with the availability of adequate internet connectivity in the Islands, the Department had approached NIC Uttarakhand for a comprehensive solution. Accordingly, a new application with counter booking facilities was implemented on February 12, 2021 by the name of ANTS-Andaman & Nicobar Ticketing System.
Advantages in online Booking
►Commuters can access the online portal https://ants.andaman.gov.in at any time from anywhere for booking of ATR Bus tickets.
► Commuters are not required to visit ATR Ticket Counter.
► Commuter can check availability, reservation and cancellation of tickets 24x7.
► Commuter can book their tickets 30 days in advance. Online tickets can be booked by using a credit card, a debit card, internet banking, UPI etc.
Benefits for the Public
► Bookings are open for 24x7 (reservation/cancellation) through online payment without visiting ATR Ticketing Counter.
► Commuters are notified through SMS alert about their bookings/ cancellations.
► No hidden charges are there. It is very simple to book online and get an overview of the entire process.
► The commuter can choose a seat of their choice from the sitting arrangement.
